I LOVE the mosaic stamp set and finally acquired it and the punch last year. I have wanted to use it in a Christmas card design. Cindyâs card looked at first glance like a gatefold card so I have had that idea tickling my brain since I pinned her card months agoâIâm just sorry it took me so long to get to it. But the color scheme from the inspiration challenge gave me the push I needed.
I made a gatefold card from white cardstock and cut two thin strips of the striped paper and glued to the edges where they meet. I trimmed the pink glitter paper to fit the front panels and glued down. I stamped two of the mosaic designs in the pink and green ink, stamping off the pink first to lighten it. I punched out with the punch. I cut four lengths of gold thread and taped one end to the back of the white panel and used washi tape to temporarily hold in place on the front. I added foam tape to the backs of the mosaic pieces and popped in place over the ends of the thread as I removed the washi tape. I added panels of another designer paper print in Parakeet Party to the backs of the folding panels to cover the threads.
I remembered to bring my label dies on my dogsit with me, but forgot the Christmas greeting stamps that go with them, and I had no other larger Christmas greeting stamps. Fortunately I had grabbed a handful of my older Christmas embellishments I am determined to use up this year, and among them was a partially used sheet of Christmas rubons from Making Memories. Props to that sadly defunct company for quality product, because their 19-year-old rubons worked perfectly.
Okay I had to take a moment to recover from recognizing that 2004 is almost two decades ago, and that my police academy graduation was twenty years ago this month. Wow. Back to the card.
I applied the rubons to some white cardstock and cut out using the smaller hexagon die, then cut a larger hexagon piece from the striped pattern paper and glued together. I added foam tape to the back on the left side and stuck to the card front.
I do not do fun folds, even basic ones like this, very often, and I am super happy with how this card turned out.
Belated congratulations to MissCindy, hope your week was awesome!

I bet that sparkly paper just shines IRL because it even looks great on my computer screen. I can definitely see the inspiration from the mosaics here on your card, but I love how you changed it up to create Christmas ornaments. Super design and a fabulous Christmas card.
