I do not have anything Western in my stash like cowboys horses etc so I was happy we could also use Southwestern themed stuff for the challenge for today. I decided I would portray the lizard who sat on a rock and watched those big scary animals wave bang sticks at each other. I also got to pull out one of my very oldest stamp sets, the Southwest set from 1998. It is 25 years old, holy cow! Just to make things more interesting, I also decided to combine with the sketch challenge from yesterday.
I started with a rectangle of very light tan cardstock, and blended the yellow, orange and red distress inks on it, then stamped the lizard in black Versafine ink and edged the piece with the espresso ink. I glued it to a slightly larger rectangle of yellow cardstock. Since I was already going old school, I decided to embellish with copper brads in each corner and used some brown ribbon to anchor a copper spiral clip for the round element from the sketch. I set this piece aside and made the card base. I layered the print paper onto dark brown cardstock and attached to the front of the premade Kraft card. I added strips of dark yellow and dark orange cardstock across the card front, then attached the lizard piece with foam tape.
If I did it over I would make the lizard piece a wee bit smaller so the strips are more visible but overall I love how it turned out.
USEIT2023: lots of old friends from my stash, including the stamp set, distress inks and brushes, the clip and brads, and plenty of paper scraps. I also finished off the last of the brown ribbon spool.

I like the way your lizard stands out due to your expert blending of colors! Nice ribbon treatment and the dp looks southwestern, so you are definitely in there~

I'm glad you were able to play and use your sw theme. That's a really cool image and goes well with the bg paper. The swirl in the corner is a fab accent.

I too wanted to mention your ribbon and spiral clip embellishment. So great! Love the lizard image. You have really captured the colours and warmth of the SW. Super card!
