TLC974 A Simple Leaf

For Beverly's TLC today: TLC974 Gilded Leaves 10/23/2023 by ruby-heartedmom at Splitcoaststampers

I think I overthought this because of thinking that anything with a real leaf would most likely be fairly ephemeral. I like Anita's shadowbox, and might try a window with the leaf preserved in a laminating pouch, which vaguely crossed my mind. I've certainly used die-cuts in a laminating pouch for a window card before.
Anyway, for a robust leaf I chose a bay leaf from my trea, and it smelled gorgeous while heating it. I used mostly gold powder but added a bit of copper and red.
Embossed a leafy panel, very lightly added some Inka gold. As the embossing is quite detailed, even stamping the sentiment before embossing didn't look great so I stamped the sentiment again on a strip of torn vellum and laid it over the top. Rounded opposite corners, added it to a base and popped the leaf up over a kraft burlap die-cut.

Wow! I didn't think of using more than one color until I was done. The color is stunning!

I have a bay tree! Gonna have to get some of those smells!

Lovely card. I can imagine how fragrant the bay leaf was as you dried it! Such a wonderful design to showcase your gilded leaf!

Well now I know where bay leaves come from....a tree! Hadn't thought about that ever. They're just in the store by magic, right? I bet you use them a lot in your cooking. This card reminds me of the one you sent me for my birthday. How lovely...what a great challenge, even if there is fragility to it. Nature is fragile, ever changing. Does your bay tree lose their leaves?

Again-something I would not have thought of doing...heat embossing a leaf. Pressing sure..but not that. It is great looking!
