OK, this is my attempt at the card box on the new catty cover. Theirs looks square; I wanted A-2 sized.
Trim 1/8" off the 11" side of the cardstock, so you have 8.5x10-7/8" piece. Score 2-1/2" on all four sides. Use a bone folder to really get those creases crisp. Here's where it gets harder to explain. From each corner you want to fold that section in half up to where the 2 folds intersect.

Uck, can't do diagrams. See at the bottom right corner? Imagine that's the corner area outside where the top and side score lines intersect. Score that in half from the outside corner of the paper in to where the lines intersect.
Then crease again really well. The fold goes in so it's a mountain fold inside the box. I'm confusing myself.
Use a strong tape like the red tape. I like to fold rather than slice the excess at the corners because it seems stronger that way.
The box winds up measuring 6" wide x 3" deep x 2-1/2" tall. I put a pc. of cardboard on the bottom to make it sturdier, but that's not necessary.
Then just wrap a band of decorative paper or whatever around the box and spiff it up as desired.
This just uses one piece of cardstock cut to 8.5x10-7/8".
