This week our Featured Stamper, MariLynn, offers up an expansive array of art to inspire. This beautiful journal page reminded me of an AI colored image: MIX540 splatters by MariLynn at Splitcoaststampers. I kept her floral theme and some of her colors but changed everything else.
I know people paint with AI, but I have not. I wanted to try and get that look though. And, since I didn't have the patience to search for videos and sit through the process, I just went for it. This was my second attempt. The first and third attempts weren't as successful and I used them to figure out the layout.
For my card: I initially stamped the image with COPIC friendly black ink in my Misti. I removed the image from my Misti and, using alcohol and reinkers, I tried to dot and move the ink inside the images. Since purple and green make brown, I let the ink dry a bit in between applications, but it still blended in a few places where I had to add alcohol to get the ink to run. I applied the lightest green on the white space; added drops of the dark green and then dabbed with a kleenex. It gave it a very cool textured looked and I was able to get closer to the flowers without blending the colors. I returned the cs to the Misti and restamped the floral image a couple times. To finish the card, I die cut the AI and a piece of green cs; embossed the based; then glued and bedazzled. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my initial attempt of this process.
Congratulations MariLynn on being Featured Stamper. Thank you for all the beautiful pieces of inspiration you have provided. I hope you enjoy all the cards created in your honor this week. And, I hope everyone tries something new today -- never stop trying; never stop learning. TFL
