Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us a jump-start on the 4th of July with her colors: Real Red, Basic White, and Blueberry Bushel, with Patriotic as the dessert option.
When I started to think about creating this week's card, I realized I have no stamps or dies that are specifically designed for patriotic themes. What to do?!?! Necessity is the mother of invention! I pulled out a star stencil and some white embossing paste and die cut a heart out of Blueberry Bushel cardstock. After stenciling the white stars, I added some Iridescent Ice for some sparkle, and heat set it after the paste was dry. Then I grabbed a stripe stencil and blended Real Red ink to make my stripes.
Again, no appropriate greetings, so I printed out a line from "God Bless America," in keeping with the heart theme, "Land That I Love." Added a few sequins, and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with my card!
Now it's your turn! Please join us in the gallery this week and show us your red, white, and blue cards!

You SHOULD be pretty please with this one! You've got such strong graphic design and a message that works really well with your version of the stars and stripes.

Wonderful card, Barbara! I love the embossed hearts on the flag and the rustic look of the stripes. Using that line from "God Bless America" is a wonderful addition. The added sequins are a perfect touch. Faved!
