My crafty card partner loves purples and I love the rich pigments of Catherine Pooler's inks, so I used my CP reinkers instead of the DI inks recommended in the video. Other than that I followed the video in this week's challenge link. I wasn't thrilled with the final look, so I added the three black die cut butterflies and that helped it immensely. I managed a lot of sheen on this card, but I was not able to capture that in my photo.
Lessons learned:
(1) I think the CP inks worked great, except I really sprayed a ton of my homemade mica spray on it and in a few places I got water droplets that lifted the colors. Fortunately they mostly landed where the black was colored so it doesn't show.
(2) I "thought" this ef's overall pattern would look good and it's ok; but I like the bigger patterns a bit better as you get more of the base colors. Also, this ef has a ton of small dots that really add to its design but I didn't have the patience to try to leave those so I colored them over with the black. You can see the texture they left though IRL.
(3) I still can't add gold ef to dark cs without it leaving a "film" on the blank spots even when I use anti-static powder. May be the EP I'm using; may be operator error; may be I should just avoid gold EP. LOL. In the end, I did a quick second coat with the Sharpie to cover some of that.
Thanks for this week's challenge Sabrina. It's a fun technique. Hope everyone has their own version of rescue butterflies in their crafty toolkit. Have a beautiful day. TFL

You did a marvellous job, Debbie! I love the CP purple you used. I’m sure your crafty card partner will love this. I love how you added in the details until you were happy with the overall effect you achieved. Hugs~

Sharpies are a great rescue for stray EP on black, but an overall film doesn't sound right. I know what you mean about the dots - my dandelion EF has a couple more than actually show - even with a finer tip, they're harder to avoid. The purple and gold is a wonderful combination, with the black really bringing it to life.

The overall effect is just lovely and I think you did well with getting the gold ep pretty much where you wanted.
I know what you mean by the larger pattern being more effective especially with a tone on tone color combo. . . I see a few areas on your card where there are just hints of a darker purple against the lilac so a larger design would 'Probably' show more of the play of light and dark. These techniques are always a learning experience and it's a win-win situation when we can make them into a usable card.

Lovely card, Debbie! The purples and golds are gorgeous! And you can't go wrong with adding a few butterflies!
