I really wanted to take part in the mixed media challenge today and I hope this is enough; I didn't have a lot of options with the stuff I brought to my mom's house -- no stencils or different colored inks etc. I did have a lot of scraps and random odds and ends so decided to make a collage card. It started with die cutting the bunnies from the brown cardstock to make another easter card -- I liked how the negatives faced each other so I trimmed the edges of the scrap and saved it. When I decided to make a collage card, I built it around this bunny scrap, starting with dry embossing it with a woodgrain folder. I used kraft cardstock cut longways to make a top folding card. I found the checked paper, the green paper, and the bit of paper with handwriting in my scrap bag and arranged on the card front and glued down. I cut the tag and stamp images from a very old collage images book, using Fiskars postage scissors to cut out the stamp. I arranged them on the card front and glued in place, then glued down the rabbit piece so that different papers showed through the openings. I found a half of a swirly die cut on gold metallic cardstock in my scraps, and it fit perfectly on the green paper, so I glued it in place.
Inside the card I decorated with another vanilla bunny negative and an extra tag from the collage book. I stamped the "Happy Easter" sentiment in Versamark ink and heat embossed with copper powder. I swiped the versamark ink over several places on the card front, dusted with the copper EP, and heat embossed it. I squished the small wood leaf into the Versamark pad and heat embossed with copper powder, then glued to the cardfront. I also glued an unfinished wooden butterfly to the card front.
This was really fun to make, I need to get back to collage more often!
