This week's Tea Party is very special to me. It's for my mom's cousin Claire, who is really more like an aunt to me. She is going through another tough round of chemo for her cancer that can't be cured and she could really use your love and support. I have been sending cards to her almost weekly since she was diagnosed and she loves them. She is going to be floored by all of your talent. I hope you'll find the time to join us this week.
I went with a bowling theme for my card and combined with the TLC and CAS challenges. For Lisa's shoes challenge, I stamped some wingtip shoes and changed them into bowling shoes. I specifically colored them to match the rentals that we had at our old bowling alley. My family used to run a duckpin bowling alley and several of us bowled together in a league on Monday nights. If you've never been duckpin bowling, you're missing out. It's way better than ten pin. Duckpin bowlers carry three small balls with them instead of one big ball, so I cut those out with some marble paper. I wanted to do green ones, but I didn't have the right paper, so I went with pink ones. We did have some alley balls that were pink with a blue swirl through them. I fit the shoes and balls onto the mini card for the TLC Challenge. I used a piece of leftover WFD background. To keep the card CAS, I wanted to put it on a white background, but I didn't want to leave it plain white. So I used a technique that had been a challenge I think in a VSN? I can't remember who hosted, but we did some illegible writing to make a background. I illegibly wrote a message about how much fun I used to have bowling on Monday nights with Claire and other family members.

Boy did you find some cool images to use for her. She'll love it! I have a friend who puts confetti in every card, it actually drives me crazy because I never remember that she does this. She's only been sending me cards for over 20 years. The last card she gave me, I was sitting in her car when I opened it and I dumped it on the floor of the car. She laughed, I just couldn't help myself.

I don't know what I love most about this wonderful card but I think that it is so personal. Your handwritten note about your childhood memories of bowling with her and the family really makes a great card something very extra special. I think you could sell your bg writing as a font -- it's great! And, then there are all those fun elements like turning dress shoes into bowling shoes and your signature pun. Too Too Fun. Love this! Prayers for your aunt and your family. Hugs.

I loved reading your write-up. I'd never heard of duckpin bowling before. I used to enjoy 10-pin but always went home with a headache from the noise. Love your colours. I remember doing the illegible text for a MIX way, way back.

This is such a wonderful, personalized creation for your friend, Jennifer. That hand written background is outstanding with the bowling shoes and funny greeting. I had never heard of duckpin bowling until I recently saw a segment about it on TV, possible CBS Sunday Morning. Anyway, your card is really great!

Super cute and so personal! I love the written background, and what a great reminder that - when you don’t have the perfect background stamp or paper - make your own!
