A while ago, Sabrina and I had a chat about styluses (is that the right way to write it?). She had many, I had none. She was surprised, so I decided I had better get some. My dollar store had some, I'm guessing they're just as good as any are.
This was definitely challenging for me as 1) I've never used a stylus much 2) I don't color much. But I forged on and it didn't turn out too badly. I wanted to use a stamp I'd never used so I thought I'd try this lotus. There were already a lot of lines in the stamp so I added more in the spaces where there weren't lines. I stamped everything in the London fog, which is a lovely gray/green; even the edge of the base is sponged with it. I layered lots of colors onto the lotus (are a lotus and a water lily the same thing??), mostly pinks, oranges and yellows. Several colors of green for the leaves....I also did a little light shading at the bottom of the image. BTW I used the cheap watercolor because it was a lot like Bristol paper, very smooth. Brayered the top with two colors of Distress ink to add more color.
I actually had some fun with this. I don't do a lot of animals and people, which I know is where most use this technique, but I'm glad to see some branch out into other things like a field etc. Thanks, Sabrina!

That lotus is beautiful, lovely colours and great texture. I like your choice of non-black for stamping with and the delicate background sponging.
Did I mention that a small stylus is super for dotting paint or if you want smaller drops of Liquid Pearls et al. And reinforceing crease lines for the fun folds you don't love so much ;-). I think the set I have was intended for nail art.

Great colors. I had a lot of trouble with the coloring, but it seems you got it right! Pretty card with the lotus.
