I really wanted to use the MFT tri-fold slider, but couldn't come up with an idea. So I made an adult version of a ribbon slider card I made some years ago (WT586 Up, Up and Away by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers. Thankfully I'd written a good description of how I made it, because I don't even have a clue which of my paper engineering books helped me with it. Here's more or less what I wrote then, modified for today For the slider, I cut two parallel slits from just above the city skyline to the top, a little wider than the ribbon I was planning to use. I have two little strips of paper folded around the "track" made by these two slots and stuck, so that they will slide freely up and down the track. One of these is stuck to the balloon, one to the basket. Then from the back of the card, I used glue to attach the ribbon itself to these two loops only. It's threaded through a slot at the top and bottom of the card, and each end is finished off with a little tab made with the Modern Label Punch. The track only runs down to just above the sky-line.
I used a Brusho background from my stash, and cut the city skylines from a messed-up kraft base. Thinking how to do the balloon required the most thinking, because all the little curly bits and the open space between the gondola and the balloon were too much fussy-cutting even for me, when some interactivity was also to be accounted for. So in the end I stamped and embossed the bottom part of the balloon and the gondola on heat-proof acetate, embossed, and then fussy cut as well as I could but without worrying about the curling bits. Then I stuck the colourful balloon over.

wow - awesome. I will have to check out that tutorial.. thank you for including it. Great colors on this card, I absolutely love that sky background. That city and the basket make this card look like it came out of the 30's... when Time Traveler was at the movies...

Fantastic in every detail. Love the patterns on the buildings as well as that fabulous sky and delightful vintage balloon. I'm not sure which John will enjoy more -- the art or the engineering of the card. Probably both and he is sure to get a "boost" from this gem. Awesome card.

Love the fun sky and your up, up and away mechanism. I will have to re-read this more than once to see if I can figure it out. I have a feeling it's not for the faint of heart . . . .
