My entry for the Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest! Ha!
I saved a napkin from our family Christmas party last weekend with which to make a card. At the time, I did not yet know what I would create, only that it would be decoupaged onto cardstock. And there it sat. Unfinished. Until this challenge!
Does anyone remember using blinking lights on sweatshirts? That is where I was going with this idea.
And, yes, I know a few people who would actually wear one. Teehee.
I used an embossing folder to give the bottom edge that sweater edge look. Then began searching for light bulbs to light up the tree. I didn't find my lightbulbs (yes, I actually once had some!), but came across these marquise shaped gems from SU that would make a good substitute. I colored them with alcohol markers and attached them to the same colored lightbulbs on the tree. What to do for the star? Washi tape to the rescue. Yes, it was laying in front of me because I had used it earlier this week to seal envelopes for Christmas cards. I applied the washi tape to cardstock and punched the star shape. Then punched it again from plain cardstock to layer it for dimension. Then the snowflakes needed embellishments. They couldn't be outdone by the tree! So, more SU embellishments to the rescue, this time from those water colors that were available earlier this year. As the decoupaging had warped the card base, I chose to use a tear-n-tape type product that is strong enough to keep it flat, attached it to a card base made of brilliant blue cs.

I remember the light-up sweaters! You captured this challenge perfectly! I love how you colored the gems to make the lights and how you made your star. Bravo!!
