Replaced with daylight photo.
I got my first sewing machine when I was about six, I guess. We had one which did chain stitch only, which I think came from Canada, and my mother had her electric one. But my dad picked up one very similar to this somewhere and serviced it and got it running smoothly, but it didn't look at all like this because he painted it blue with white details and little flowers for decoration here and there. First thing I did was run the needle halfway through my finger. I graduated to my mother's electric after a while, and when I left home my brother picked up an old Singer at a flea market and got it running and that lasted me for several years until I got fed up of making all my buttonholes by hand and finally bought my own brand new machine.
Sorry for the poor photo. I was home from work late yesterday, had half an hour to make the card, and then the light wasn't great. Will try to replace later today.
Stamped the mice, coloured quickly with gold detailing on the sewing machine. Drew some little flowers into the fabric, sponged the background lightly. Embossed the matting layer with DoCrafts Abstract Thistles and sponged with the same colour as the background. Added the Joanna Sheen thimble and scissors cut from matt gold card, and threaded the birthday sentiment through the scissors handle. Edged the image panel with Stickles.
* yes, half an hour. It was that or nothing. I was just sticking the front to the card base when my timer went. Phew...

I've always loved those old Singer machines and used to look at them longingly in antique stores (but I couldn't come up with a valid reason ever to buy one.) Love the sweet image. And kudos to you for knocking this out in 30 minutes.

Wow, 30 minutes! Apparently you are an organized stamped with a true picture in your mind. :-) Love the old machines. My grandmother had a treadle machine; black with detailing like this. I used to sew a lot - now it is mostly repair work. Love your card!

The machine your Dad painted for you sounds wonderful. I started on the machine very young, sitting in my grandmother's lap, while she worked the treadle.
Your card is just delightful. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, mf.
