Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she is helping us to finish up (or start?!?!) our Christmas cards. The colors are Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and Crumb Cake. The dessert option is "snowflake."
I used my Tim Holtz Stamptember stamp set, stamping in black archival ink, then watercoloring with Gansai Tambi paints. For my sky, not really a cheat, I started with navy paint (a permitted neutral), and watered it down until it was a suitable sky color.
When the paint was dry, I had a slight misstep. I used the new Tim Holtz grit paste called Snowfall. I thought it was going to be perfect for the effect I was seeking, but it is translucent, and it completely disappeared into the scene. Undaunted, I washed off the stencil and the palette knife, carefully replaced the stencil, and went back to my old standby, white embossing paste sprinkled with glitter. Now that's what I was looking for! Snow is made up of snowflakes, right? I do want dessert!
The design panel is mounted on a layer of Cherry Cobbler, and then on a white card base. Greeting heat embossed in white and added to the corner.
One more card into the stash! Thanks for the nudge, Mary!

Barbara your snow scene is magnificent! You mastered the snow to perfection and all the work you went too was worth it! Santa is such a good guy to winter the Christmas Eve snowfall! The recipient will treasure this awesome card!

Wow! That is some snow - I think that is what it looks like home in Minnesota right now minus Santa. Good call to go back to the embossing paste because the flurry you've created really makes this scene magical!
