Color Challenge - CC923 - A Fresh, Balmy Breeze over the Pacific - November 22, 2022
Fresh Freesia, Balmy Blue, Pacific Point
Dessert option: incorporate any shade of pink
I used alcohol markers to match as closely as possible to the colors.
This color combination made me think of winter. I am in love with it and will be using it again in the future. For this card, I started by die cutting the winter background scene out of white cardstock. Then I colored each piece and inlaid it back into place directly on the front of the card. The pink shade I corporated is a very pale pink as the winter sky behind the trees. I used the light blue color for the patch of ice.
I stamped and colored the penguin. I used the light blue again for some of the stripes in the scarf and the darker blue for the frame, the winter hat, and also for some of the stripes in the scarf. The marker color I used to match for Fresh Freesia was used for the winter hat and stripes in the scarf.
For neutral colors, I used a light gray for the trees, a dark gray for the penguin's body, and a medium gray for the beak and feet.
I cut out the penguin by hand and used foam tape to attach it, for slight dimension. I added clear sparkly Stickles to outline the beak, feet, and flippers.
I love this style of stamp with the curly edges and have quite a few different critters in my collection. They are large and fill an A2 card front nicely. The curly edges are very forgiving for coloring and for fussy cutting. The penguin could be colored in traditional colors for Christmas themed cards (the hat and scarf) or used as a winter card like I did here. There is a December birthday coming up that I will use this for. I feel it could be used through all of December, January, and February, including a winter Valentine card. The flipper that is sticking out the farthest could be used to hold any variety of things like a balloon, an ornament, a candy cane, a heart, a star, just about anything!
