I embossed first and then sponged repeatedly, but in the end I also had to spritz lightly with water to even out the look.
I started out going with textured green thinking it would work for Christmas, but wreaths and foliage just got lost on it. So I cut an ornament instead, using glitter card for the solid layer and watercolour paper for the top layer. I hung it from gold cord and added a bow and a few snowflakes. I had sprinkled a little gold Pixie Powder over the background while it was still wet.

Beautifully done with your many elements. Like how you did the ombre background and the dainty bauble. I like your fine gold border, adds a nice touch. TFS

What a great ornament! I need to case your card. Love the ombre, and the embossing adds great texture. Might it not have been easier to reverse and color first?
