Here in Virginia, we have a great deal of water (rivers, bays, even the edge of the state is on the Atlantic Ocean (in Virginia Beach). So, there are many lighthouses, especially on the area near the Chesapeake Bay. When the colonies first started, we had a great deal of shipping, so lighthouses were needed to help areas and ports be seen.
And many birds are seen after a storm - the rough water brings more fish to the top area of water.

Lovely way to represent Virgina and provide cool facts. I learned something myself. Very pretty card.

Beautiful. That dp makes a gorgeous sky and you added that grass in very creative way. Love the scene with the birds flying over the surf. Great way to show off your state. So often we (I) associate lighthouses with the NE, but you remind me that the southern coast has its share too. Wonderful card and so fun for the kids.

getting educated on so many states and are things not learned in school, great water you have made for your lighthouse and those hand drawn sea gulls are neat--no stamps need
