Believe it or not, this card started with the thought that I needed to make a birthday card for my son-in-law. His birthday falls in mid-October. I began by perusing my Splitcoaststamper challenge list to see which challenges might spark ideas for my card design, starting with the Featured Stamper challenges. I happened on a spider card that gave me the idea to do something about Halloween for his card as he loves really getting into Halloween and finding spooky places to visit to celebrate this holiday. This got me started with all kinds of other ideas about using the new September Paper Pumpkin Spooky Treats kit and making an alternative design card, etc. All ideas gathered from selected challenges eventually jelled into this alternative "Spooky Treats" Halloween card, which gave me 14 challenges to enter, and they are listed below:
1) SC925 - Sketch Challenge (by Alison Cope) - 9/28/22. Tweak: moved #4 sentiment rectangle and made two smaller ones. Take a look at the sketch challenge here: Sketch SC925!
2) AOCC22 - All Occasion Card Challenge/ October 2022 - 10/1/22. An annual ongoing challenge where you set goals ahead for cards needed each month during the year to help you complete and mail them more timely! This is a much needed birthday card for my son's October birthday.
3) USEIT2022 - Use It Challenge/ September 2022 - 9/1/22. An ongoing/ annual challenge that requires you to use OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased, never used, and seemingly forgotten! My OLD/ DUSTY item: Stampin' Up's Square Lattice embossing folder (2010-2014/retired).
4) TSBT722 - Twisted Sisters Bus Tour #7/ Fall--Autumn Card - 9/1/22. I've made a Halloween card...definitely a holiday celebrated every Fall.
5) ABC17K11 - Alphabet Challenge/ "K = Kit" - 8/3/22. Challenge: make a card using a kit or kit materials. I've used SU's September 2022 Paper Pumpkin--Spooky Treats pieces to make a Halloween embedded embossed slimline card.
6) TLC843 - Technical Lover's Challenge/ It's All About a Slimline - 4/12/21. Challenge: create a slimline card or mini slimline card. I opted for the traditional slimline version.
7) IC797 - Inspiration Challenge/ Rug Savings - 3/13/21. I found inspiration in this plaid rug with its colors: Nourison Oakdale Rug. It reminded me of the new September 2022 Paper Pumpkin plaid and inspired me to use it for my card background.
MIX413 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Texturize - 12/25/20. Challenge: add texture to your project using a new or seldom used technique for you. I used the embedding embossing technique that I first used back in 2016, and though I liked the results, I took a 6-year hiatus before using it again now! Mediums: pigment ink (edge distressing), Copic markers (spider re-coloring).
9) WT816 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Let's Get Spooked - 10/29/20. Challenge: Think ghosts, cobwebs, spiders, witches, fairies...things that scare you or a technique (Ghosting), stamp or die whose difficulty scare you. My card uses ghosts, spiders, and webs that scare me!
10) FS714 - Featured Stamper/ Djahner (aka Deb Djahner) - 10/11/20. I was thinking of a birthday card for my son-in-law. Deb's spidey card inspired me to make a Halloween card: Spidey Tricks! I kept the Halloween theme and the spider and web, but added more colors, change my layout design, and made a slimline card.
11) DDSKETCH0820 - Fan Club Monthly Theme Challenge--August 2022/ Spots & Stripes! - 8/17/20. My card fits the central theme of things that go together like: Halloween & ghosts and spiders & webs. My card is for the Sketch Challenge, which fits nicely with the current sketch challenge as well! Take a peek at the other cards entered into this challenge gallery, which is what I used to try to figure out what the sketch was since I could never see it in the challenge information: DDSKETCH0820 Gallery!
12) MMTPT586 - Teapot Challenge/ Are You Spooked - 10/15/19. Make a Halloween card to lift the teapotter's spirits. I'm late to the party, so my Halloween card will be for my SIL's October birthday! He loves to attend Halloween spooky places and events during October.
13) CAS505 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Tricks or Treats - 10/29/18. Challenge: create a Halloween card or put a treat on it.
14) F4A450 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Small, Tall, or Long - 10/5/18. Challenge? make a card that is small and tall or long and tall, aka Slimline. Slimline cards are meant to fit in a business-size envelope. I made my card by using a business-size envelope for measurement. Then, I looked up "cardmaking standards" for slimlines. This size information is via Jennifer McGuire: Mini slimline = 3-1/2" x 6", Traditional slimline = 3-5/8" x 8-5/8", and Big slimline = 4" x 9". My card measures 3-3/4" x 8-3/4".
Ingredients: Stampin' Up: Cardstock--Basic Black, Pacific Point, Crushed Curry, Whisper White scraps. September 2022 Paper Pumpkin (plaid, spider, ghost, stars). Punch: 2" Circle. Embossing Folder--Square Lattice. Other: Core'dinations Core Courture--Black Tie glitter paper. Dies--Spellbinders Petite Scallop. Ink--ColorBox Cat Eye-Charcoal (edge distressing). Punch--EK Medium--Victorian Corner; Copic Markers--Spider re-color. Chatterbox sentiment & verse (computer-generated/ Font-Phantom Fingers). Size--Slimline = 3.75 x 8.75-inches.
