Color Challenge - CC914 - Granny's doing the Mambo in the Highlands - September 20, 2022
Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Highland Heather
I substituted Gorgeous Grape for Highland Heather as my purple color.
I wanted to use this squirrel/candy stamp set and found an adorable card on someone's blog. As it turns out, she has a gallery here at SCS and she was the Featured Stamper in January 2020! That was before she posted this particular card and before I had joined SCS. Here is that same card from her blog, uploaded to her gallery (hamiltonkim55):
Kim's card is so cute - I love the rosy cheeks and eyelashes she added to her critter. What caught my eye about her card is the genius idea to have the squirrel perched on the extra long swirl from the letter "d" - brilliant! I am not sure I would have thought of doing that, and I am already thinking of what other critters I can place in that same position on other cards I make in the future.
To make my card my own,
I changed the orientation to landscape.
I used different patterned paper and different colors (I followed the colors for this week's color challenge for 9/20/2022).
I added a second squirrel from the same stamp set.
I used Stickles for my sparkle on the candy rather than chunky glitter.
I did not make a shaker card.
I started with a black background and then added the striped patterned paper.
I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the two squirrels holding their candy. I die cut the friend word in white and colored it with the same pink marker as I used on the candy. I cut the friend shadow layer in black to match the black base layer of the card.
I glued down the squirrel on the left first, so that I could add the friend word slightly overlapping it. Then I added the second squirrel balancing on the extra long swirl from the letter "d".
I stamped the sentiment, which was easy to line up with the stripes on the patterned paper. For the dessert option suggested for the challenge, I added clear Stickles to the circular line inside the lollipop and to the two ends of the other piece of candy.

Super cute! Wonderful use of the challenge colors. Love the die-cut friend sentiment and how the squirrel is on the swirl end of the letter. So many good ideas. Great card!
