Inspiration Challenge - IC874 - The Holiday Barn - September 3, 2022
This is a festive and colorful site with mostly holiday related items. With Halloween just around the corner, I selected this item as my inspiration since it reminded me of a stamp set I have with a similar cat image that I had not used yet:
Even though the stamp set is a Halloween set, I found a completely separate sentiment stamp that I could also use with the cat image for non-holiday cards, getting more mileage out of it. I made two cards for this challenge showing a black cat for the original purpose of a Halloween card and a brown cat for a non-holiday card with a bit of humor.
For the first card as a Halloween card, I started with purple gingham patterned paper for the background on a 3x6 mini slimline white card base, leaving a small white border all the way around. I stamped the cat in black and used the coordinating die to cut it out. This cat is startled by something spooky! I cut out the letters for the word "EEK" in a coordinating solid purple color using an uppercase alphabet die set. The letters were easy to line up using the checkered rows of the gingham pattern as a guide. I stamped the dangling spider in black.
For the second card as a humorous non-holiday card, I started with yellow gingham patterned paper for the background on a 3x6 mini slimline white card base, leaving a small white border all the way around. I stamped the cat in dark brown and used the coordinating die to cut it out. This cat is hyped up on too much caffeine! I stamped the coffee rings in a lighter brown color and then used the dark brown again to stamp the sentiment on top.
I really like that I could get two totally different cards from the same stamp set by changing up the colors and the sentiment. Which one is your favorite?
