It's already the end of August and my last day as a guest designer for the color challenge team. That went fast!
This week, Chris chose Soft Sea Foam, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sorbet, with embossing as dessert. I think I get Jell-o for dessert. I decided to combine the color challenge with Karen's TLC. Karen challenged us to "embossing folder stamping with a twist." We partially stamped a background with an embossing folder and then filled in the rest with a stencil. So I guess I didn't technically emboss anything. I was going to heat emboss my sentiment, but I forgot. I was rushing to get to work and even forgot to add Stickles, so I'll have to go back and do that. This cute stamp was on my to do list and she looks great in this week's colors. I used Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink as an approximation for Flirty Flamingo. That was a fun technique with so many possibilities!
I had a craft crisis at the end of making this card though. I don't know what happened to my Big Shot, but it won't cut my whole die cleanly anymore. I flipped my plates and dies every which way, passed it through a dozen times, even tried new plates and nothing worked. What's your professional opinion? Do I have to buy a new die cutting machine?

I'll start off by saying that I had the same problem with my old Big Shot. I ended up buying a new one. As for your card... amazing! Love the whimsical look. The coloring is fantastic.

Fabulous use of the challenge colors. Love the creative background; the tone on tone really works with this technique. The image is adorable. What a sweet card. Sorry for the Big Shot trouble. Hopefully just for this one die. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration this month.

Aw she is a cutie pie!
What an interesting idea-a hybrid EF/Stencil BG. hmm
Big shot-I agree-did you try shims? I found mine got "looser" with age and needed them. Although I did finally bite the bullet after 20 years and got a new platinum when they were on sale 2 weeks ago. Now I feel bad about getting rid of the big shot! LOL

Sometimes the plates start to bow so shims or new plates unless you are looking for an excuse to get a new one - lol.
This is sooooo cute. I am in love with your background and that fun image. Fun card, Jen.
