Teapot Tuesday Challenge - MMTPT735 - R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. with a Twist - August 23, 2022
Challenge is to choose one of the letters from the colors of the rainbow and use the associated color predominantly in the card design. The twist is to also include an additional element that begins with that same letter.
Card for Cori:
For Cori's card, I opted to go with Yellow as the predominant color and my design element for the letter Y is the "You" die cut word.
Cori loves dogs, so I went with a dog theme using yellow and the "You" die cut word. This is a shaped card that fits in an A2 sized envelope. It flips open at the top.
I used a kraft background for the base layer of the paw print and then used my predominant color of yellow for the pads of the paw.
I stamped, colored, and die cut the dog. Looking at it with fresh eyes today, I am not too happy with the coloring of the dog - I think I tried too hard to bring in as much yellow as possible. It is still a cute image, though.
I stamped part of the sentiment at the bottom of the card in dark brown and then cut out the word "You" in a coordinating brown color and in white. I layered the brown sentiment on top of the white sentiment, slightly offset so that there is a little white showing through from underneath, acting as a highlight of sorts.
I think next time, I would let a little bit more of this white be visible. Here it is a very tiny sliver peeking out for each letter. Since the die cut dog image has a white border all the way around, I would have liked to match this with a bit wider white border offsetting the die cut word.

"Pawsitively" adorable. Love the shape and the die cut paw with the fun yellow (such a happy color) showing through. Your pooch is so precious. I know you said you weren't super pleased with the coloring, but he looks great on my screen and I like how the yellow coordinates with the paw print. Great card and I'm sure Cori will agree.

This is so cute! I love this sweet paw print card. I see what you're saying about the white showing behind the "you" and I agree. A lesson for next time! Isn't it fun how much we learn each day making cards.
