For Teapot Tuesday, we're making cards that remind of us someone. My someone is my stepmother. When she died, my dad had me go through her jewelry. She particularly loved bangles and pins, and she had a lot. None were valuable to my knowledge; they were costume jewelry and out of style. She had several pins of insects (butterflies, bees, etc.) These are not the collectibles from the 1920s but something more recent. I took a bunch of them and display them in a shadowbox, which is the inspiration for this card. I really struggled with this card; in fact this is a second try. At first I was trying too hard to stick to the gold pins on black background of the shadowbox and it was flat and boring. I got inspired this morning by a totally unrelated card I saw in a Facebook group, and this came together so easily compared to that first card. Oh, and I get extra cookies because I sprinked on some gold dots, which are actually sparkly stickers.

I know the type of jewelry you are talking about. My MIL had quite a stash too. Great idea to use a shadowbox for display. Love the insects you created here. And the blue paint chip bg. Pretty.

Great use of the paintchip - and a lovely card inspired by your memories. I have an enamelled butterfly pin which was my great grand-aunt's, and a little pinchbeck scarab which I don't know where it came from. (Actually, I've just looked pinchbeck up, that's not what it is. Hmm). I can totally understand collecting jewellery with an insect theme.

Well, your second attempt turned out great! Very clever and nicely done usage of a paint chip strip, especially with the scalloped edges. My great aunt also had a few pieces of bug jewelry which intrigued me.
