I made this card for one of my mom's former students. He loves gardening, so I thought this image was perfect - floral, but not too "girly." I triple-stamped it & the greeting in Morning Mist ink onto my panel of watercolor paper. I used my watercolors - a combination of Mijello Mission Gold & Da Vinci paints - to paint the image. The large flower was supposed to be peach, but the shading kind of got away from me, so it ended up being more of a mid-tone burnt orange color. So after it dried, I glazed a yellow-orange over it to brighten it up. I used a white gel pen on the highlight on the beak & the catchlight in the eye. I started with a full A2 panel of watercolor paper, but ended up trimming it to 5-1/4x4" in the end. I stamped the image going off the panel to help ground it. Overall, the painting took me about 2-1/2 +/- hours. Other than that, the card was really easy to pull together!
