Gracie is our hostess for the Tickle a Teapotter challenge this week: MMTPT731 - July 26, 2022 - Just Reminiscing... by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
For this summer if challenge I normally make a peacock card, based on the little peacock nightlight my mother had as a child. This time I decided to be different; until I left home, I had a painting of a little Japanese doll beside a lack lacquer bowl, pained by my grandmother. In fact, I'm sure I took it when we cleared my dad's house, but I didn't have space to hang out, and couldn't find it when I looked yesterday. I didn't know my grandmother that well - she died when I was 11, but I have strong memories of visiting her, and she always gave me beautiful books for Christmas and birthdays. So in memory of Grandmu, here's my paper doll. I used this tutorial: Paper Doll Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. The background is some sort of handmade paper with leaves. I used Sizzix dies for the birdcage, the corners are Joanna Sheen Art Deco. To get my gold polka dots in I embossed a small strip of white card with a polka dot ef, coloured the dots with a gel pen and then nice it when some metallic rub -on. The card and the polka dot panel are edged with Stickles. Size is 7"X 5".

I love the little doll, remember making one long ago. Pretty card with that paper, and love the addition of the bird and cage.

Love your little Japanese Doll and the collection of pretty papers. I love Japanese papers and have a big collection - but they are just too precious to use. So glad to see that you had the courage to cut into yours. Perhaps one day I too will be brave - he he.

I think I have very similar handmade paper somewhere. It's the kind of thing I never know what to do with, but you've found the perfect use for it. All the details in this card are wonderful, and I hope you find the painting that inspired it.
