This is for Shelly's Dare to Get Dirty challenge. A friend of ours, whose birthday is coming up, loves tea. I got the "Slimline Tea Party" stamp set in a prize pack a while back, & had yet to use it. I pulled it out, & thought the tea kettle would be perfect, especially paired with the sketch I chose. I did flip the sketch horizontally, so the tea kettle would point "in" towards the center of the card.
I first wove strips of the "Hello Sunshine" patterned papers to create the top & bottom borders. Since I only had 2 sheets left in that pad - which I've had for a loooong time - I made up my mind to "kill" it.
To weave the strips, I cut a piece of copy paper to 6x6", and covered one side with Stick It adhesive sheet. I adhered one end of several strips to one edge of that paper (to act as my warp pieces), and then started weaving more strips into those. I used the adhesive on the copy paper to hold everything down as I wove. If I needed to, I was able to pull up the weaving to make adjustments. After I finished, I used my Teflon bone folder to burnish the woven panel into the adhesive, so that it was firmly attached. Then I was able to use it as a single (solid) panel, rather than messing with loosely woven strips.
I had used much of my panel in another card. From the leftover, I cut 2 strips as per the sketch, & used a circle die to cut a semi-circle in the wider strip. I cut a panel of vellum bristol paper to 5-1/4x4", placed the wider strip along the bottom, & traced where the semi-circle landed. Then I used that as a guide to stamp my tea kettle. I colored the kettle with my Prismacolor pencils, & added a few highlights with a white gel pen. Finally, I glued my woven strips to the bristol panel.
I heat embossed my greeting onto a scrap of yellow cardstock, and cut it into a tag shape, to look like the label on a tea bag. I used my Tiny Attacher to staple the end of a piece of crochet twine to the tag, & glued the tag to my background.
I felt the area on the left above the tea kettle was a bit bare. (Yes, I have issues with leaving white space!) I thought of adding sequins or splatters, but nothing seemed apropos. Finally I decided to loop the twine from the tag around to fill up the space, without making it look overly cluttered. I added dots of glue in a few spots, & added the twine. After the glue dried, I matted my panel & adhered it to a white card base.

I love that idea of the top strip weave too. I have never thought to do that and I love the way it looks.
