My husband really wants me to paint more so with that in mind he bought me five watercolor books for Christmas and my birthday last year. It's terrible to say but I haven't used them yet. I have looked through them but... This week seemed like the perfect occasion to dive into the Watercolor Workbook by Sarah Simon. The book is made up of her drawings on watercolor paper. It's sturdy enough that I didn't even pull the paper out of the book. I think this is going to make a wonderful practice book.
Definitely not perfect. I won't pick it apart but I see my mistakes. I really enjoyed the painting practice and I didn't have to worry about drawing.
** I was just showing my husband that I used his gift and I had the photo up on the screen and the book opened to the painting. The painting actually looks better IRL. The skin tone has more brown in it. I am not sure if I could re-edit the photo and get it more true to life but not tonight, it's been a day!**
We hope you will join us at Watercolor Wednesday and play around with skin tones!

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought that was her hair. What a surprise when I opened it and it was a beautiful flower. What a cool image from your book. Lovely skin coloring. Hubby was so nice to buy those books for you.

Beautifully painted with her skin tone and all the other elements you water colored. It is difficult to photograph certain colors. You have a great way of keeping your colors transparent and pure when painting. Terrific job with the challenge. Fav'd

I think it looks awesome and I love that you got that pretty deep shade for her Angie. what a cool idea I knew there were "coloring" books but, not watercoloring books
