This week our hostess Ardyth has delivered a Wow! Gallery from our latest Featured Stamper, Ona (aka wombat 146). Ona makes incredible digital scrapbook pages. Gorgeous. Creative. Artistic. Wow!
I am in need of a card for an upcoming bridal shower and thought the soft gray and white palette on this layout would be perfect: LITTLE CUTIE by wombat146 at Splitcoaststampers I kept her gray and white base; a floral pattern; a bit of text and a small pop of color near the main image. I used a sentiment for the main focal point; my pop of color is aqua and light gray; and I couldn't quite work in the diagonal design to my liking so I snipped the bottom text line at an angle.
I wasn't sure how I wanted to created the base layer so I experimented with three methods -- all shown here. #1 (on top), I brayered Versafine Clair ink over my stencil onto a gel plate; #2 (my card), I laid the stencil on a piece of gray cs and applied the Yeti white pigment ink direct to paper and then sealed with clear ep; #3 (the bottom sample), I stenciled white cs with the Versafine Clair ink. #2 was the clear winner for me. I love the soft look it created. The rest of the card is just cut and paste. The sentiment is computer generated using WoodenNickelBlack and Birds of Paradise fonts.
Lesson learned, however, is that Versafine Clair is not a good blending ink. And, I am one of those who assiduously cleans my stamps and stencils. Not only did it not blend well (maybe operator error -- maybe it's the ink); but my stencil and blending brushes are now permanently stained. Ugh. I hate that! Too bad I didn't just try #2 and be done with it.
Congratulations Ona of being this week's Featured Stamper. Your Gallery is stunning and I just love your work. So much inspiration there. I hope you enjoy the cards made in honor this week. And I hope everyone has a good day and their dang ink doesn't ruin their favorite stencil. LOL. TFL.
EDIT: I don't know what those white splotches on the photo are. Must be light on the ep. They don't show on the card IRL.

This is lovely and the bride will adore it, Debbie! Not sure about the splotches, but they do not detract at all. And I know what you mean about stains on your supplies - my sympathies!

Thank you Debbie for your lovely and kind comments!! I adore the card you made, so very pretty and elegant. Fabulous design, also, the aqua is such a perfect colour choice as the accent. LOL! and hear you on the supply staining, for me it's remembering to get the texture paste of a stencil before it dries and ruins it! Once again, thanks so much!

Debbie, This is a gorgeous case of Ona's layout. You created a stunning background. I love the pretty floral pieces with the sentiment. This is such an elegant project.
Description below copied from Dick Blick site.
Versafine Clair inks are a quick-drying pigment ink that provides solid coverage and captures fine details on stamps. When dry, the stamped images are waterproof, smearproof, lightfast, and fade-resistan.
These inks are definitely not for shading or stenciling. You can use embossing powder on stamped images and sentiments but you need to move quickly. I love these inks.

This is a beautiful card. Sorry it cost you the staining of your stencil. They will still work, but I still feel your pain. I seldom use anything but distress oxide inks for my stenciling.

I meant to comment on this before but got pulled away. Debbie, this is such a pretty wedding shower card. I think I need those TH dies now, lol. Your gray color with the blue and white looks awesome! Love the slim sentiment at the bottom of your card!
