This week we are sending some Teapotter cheer to Shawn who is battling back from brain surgery and is still to undergo chemo. Among his many talents, Shawn is a black-belt in Karate. Our hostess, Lisa (aka ShoeGirl) challenged us to use a black stripe in our design to honor that.
I found this cute ninja at Mo's and loved the title because it could be HIYA! as in a karate kick shout or Hi Ya for just saying hello. In my youth, I remember being in awe of the Karate masters on TV who demonstrated their skills breaking boards and bricks with their hands and feet. So, that's where my design comes from. The sentiment is computer generated using Pizza Dude and Porky's fonts. I wanted to say "Let's kick some butt" but since I don't know Shawn and his sensibilities, I deferred to civility. I hope he thinks this alternative is smile-worthy. It is a pretty lame joke.
I hope Shawn will be cheered and supported by the outpouring of cards from this great group. And, I hope each of you find something smile-worthy today too. TFL

That karate kid is just adorable although I can sense the power that's coming in that kick! Like you I took a beat or two to consider how I wanted to get my message across without possibly offending sensibilities. I think the bricks will work just fine!

Oh my gosh this image is fantastic and perfect for Shawn. My little nephew is taking karate and I am with you, I am in awe seeing people break boards, even now when I saw my nephew doing it with his skills.

Debbie, this will, without a doubt, put a HUGE smiles on Shawn's face! Wonderful, thoughtful encouraging card!

Great card. Love the brick bg. We attended a wedding years ago where the groom was a karate/martial arts instructor and the bride was a dancer. To get them to kiss at the reception, we paid money to either see her dance or see him break boards and bricks. The money was then donated to a charity. It added a level of entertainment not usually seen at a wedding.
