Why thank you, Mrs. B for a vibrant trio of summer colors this week in the CC. I seized the moment with those delicious hues to find the balance between bold and understated. I knew my lovely model's bouquet would look gorgeous in shades of Mango Melody which I scattered across the card in four spots. The Coastal Cabana was accomplished in her dress, the sewing thread stitches and her Stickled jewelry. You'll find Granny's Green Apple in the embossed stitching frame along the bottom and the tag for the sentiment. I love how the 'ancient' Cosmo Cricket 'Fleuriste' dp brings it all together!
Our Teapotter Swap Challenge this week is hosted by sue28. Sue asked we bring a vintage style to our cards. While it's easy to think of all Tim's wonderful 'vintage' people, I wanted to explore a bit newer vintage...from the '60's. This stamp from B Line Designs is called 'Pleasure'. Isn't she just beautiful? I really enjoyed selecting her fashion. The background was dry embossed with two of Tim Holtz/Sizzix wafer dyes. You can see them behind the woman on the right side. I actually was able to get the Mango color into a few of the patterns that were cut through. I wanted to do a stitching border at the bottom and as my real sewing machine is not paper suitable, I used an unmounted stamp from Ma Vinci's Requilary. It is similar to a feather stitch, embossing it with Ranger Mixed Media 'Lime' ep. I sewed between the embossed stamped pattern and left the ends in a bit of a mess along the top edges.
The Inspiration Challenge, hosted by Julie (justwritedesigns) is a happy choice. The Happy Happy Nester. I chose How to Make a Small Bouquet second photo with the peach and pink blossoms. It was fun to create the bouquet with several layers of petals and the micro mini beads. Thank you, Julie for this fresh and happy site!
The sentiment was a veer. I couldn't resist being a bit funny to contrast this elegant lady. Do you feel this way? Sometimes we just NEED to be aLone with OUr art supplies! Here's the first time I ever created with this graceful woman. Thanks so much for your observations. I love to know what caught your eye!

This is amazing. Those tiniest bits of mango and green apple just add so much sizzle to this. Love the bit of embossing on her dress too. I can tell you are definitely and expert at this genre.

Outstanding with so many wonderful details. She is very graceful and I like that she has that wonderful bouquet. I loved the one from 2011, also. The sentiment is so true.

Well, I can't say exactly what caught my eye first because I just went 'WOW" as soon as she popped on the screen. I mean immediately without barely looking. Your skill at creating these designs just blows me away. That you could make such a moody, dark bg look like the perfect framing for that beautiful lady is such a talent. I don't think the amount of work you put into this is readily apparent until one studies it a bit; but every little detail adds so much to the look. You even managed some ef on the dress? Well, I do love it all and it wouldn't be this gorgeous without it all; but if I had to pick one thing it would be your bouquet -- no. the stitching -- no the dress -- no the sentiment. Ok, I just love it all. AWESOME card.

Yummy, Susan! Love the micro bead centers and just everything on this. You have the neatest stamps and I might add, sometimes we just need to be alone, period, lol.

AMAZING.CARD!!! So many incredible details - thanks for sharing your process. I have those TH dies - great idea to dry emboss. Love your lady dress - soo cool. Also like the way that you used the CC challenge to subtly intersperse the colors throughout the card. Would love to spend a day in your craft room!!
