FS796 USEIT2022 A Beach Scene for Kittie
Added to Favorite

I am catching up on a couple of weeks’ worth of Featured Stampers, starting with our die-cutting Queen, Kittie! I’m always awed by her creativity and precision with putting together complicated die cut compositions. I really enjoyed viewing her gallery, and I chose one of her simpler ones as my inspiration:

Life is Better at the Beach by kittie747 at Splitcoaststampers

I recently received the On the Horizon stamp and die set, so I used these to help make a beach scene. I started with a piece of light blue cardstock and cut out a rectangle slightly smaller than the white card base. I stamped the sentiment and the birds near the top of the background piece.

To make the sand, I cut a rectangle of sandpaper to the same width as the background, then ripped it in half and turned the second half so it faced upward like the first half.I inked the edges of both pieces with sepia ink and glued them together. I die cut two bits of dune grass from a scrap of moss green cardstock, trimmed to fit into my scene and glued to the back of the sandpaper. While that dried I trimmed a scrap of Waves of the Ocean DSP to the correct width and tore along one long edge, which I inked using a dark blue ink pad. I attached it to the background piece and then glued the beach piece into place on top of it. Finally I cut the beach chair from a scrap of white card and glued it into the scene. I’m no Kittie but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out!

USEIT2022-No ancient supplies this time, although I have no idea how long that sandpaper has been in my wife’s workshop! Using my recently purchased SU stamps, dies, and pattern paper.

TFL!

Awesome scene you created with torn papers, inking, and die-cuts...

Always love a beach scene -- so peaceful especially with all the lovely blues. The torn sandpaper is a great trick for making the sand -- plopping that into my "future idea" bag. Great card.
