This card was made by combining two different card challenges:
Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #180 ( https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog...-sketches.html ) asked that we use their sketch, and use at least one stamp that was older than a year... I used two 2013 stamps (9 years old):
- Stampin' Up! (SU) "By the Tide"
- SU "Gorgeous Grunge"
Inspiration Station Challenge #28 ( https://inspirationstationchallenge....l-showers.html ) has the theme "April Showers" and provides a photo of a child stomping in a water puddle for inspiration. I'll admit that when I saw the photo I didn't think of spring, but instead our upcoming family trip to the Oregon Coast where my three grand-daughters like to run into the incoming waves with their boots on while yelling and screaming with delight!
I created this card by first gluing a piece of blue wave-like pattern paper to the SU Misty Moonlight card base.
Then, I used Lawn Fawn "Stitched Hillside" dies to cut the "sandy seashore" shapes which I glued to the card base per the challenge sketch, then trimmed with paper snips from the back so they fit the card shape.
I stamped the sand area using a speckled stamp from the SU "Gorgeous Grunge" stamp set randomly with SU Crumb Cake ink to make it look like a sandy beach.
The next step was to use the SU "By the Tide" stamp set to stamp a conch seashell using SU Crumb Cake ink onto SU Very Vanilla cardstock. I used a Copic R20 marker to add highlights to the lip of the seashell. Then using a paper scoring stylus on top of a rubber mouse pad I scored the shell where I thought it would be indented in real life to give it dimension. I then used small sections of foam tape and glue dots to attach the shell to the card front to give it even more dimension.
The final step was to create the sentiment using a part of one of the stamps from the SU Quite Curvy" stamp set. I only wanted the first three words of the stamp, so covered the part I didn't want with masking tape, then inked the stamp with SU Not Quite Navy ink, removed the masking tape, and stamped the words onto SU Very Vanilla scrap of cardstock. I trimmed with paper snips and attached to the card front using a piece of foam tape.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" due to the fussy cutting of the shell and partial inking of the sentiment stamp.
