Jeanne has some fun colors for us to play with this week. They are a bit of a trip down memory lane since a few retired last year.
I looked through some favorite retiring stamps and settled on Hey Birthday Chick for these colors. I also added in the retiring Tasteful Textile folder, which is one of my all time favorites.
I thought I had the Pretty Peacock ink pad somewhere but wasn't where I thought it was so plan b was to check for the Blends and some paper. Luckily I found all the colors in the blends and then found some retired DSP besides.
I decided to add the neutral Merry Merlot since I thought chickens required even more red besides Rose. Besides, it's actually a darker version of Rococo Rose and I always loved using the two together. 1/2" strips of each color DSP were pieced together for my border. I added the zig zag type border from Basic Borders Dies. It's stitched so it adds to the quilted border theme I had going.
I think you will really have fun with these colors - remember just use the closest you have on hand!

That cute hen looks like she's already been partying, and she's blushing, too! LOL! I love the multi-colored side strip and the zig-zag elements. They add so much to the interest in this card!

Chris, your colorful chick is a cute and festive way to celebrate a birthday! I love your dsp border with the zigzag trim, once again, great idea! I agree with you on the Tasteful Textile folder, sad to see it go, it looks very nice on your happy design! TFS

Everything about your chicken birthday card is so fun, Chris! Love the addition of the fence, the ballon obviously attached to her tail and the striped dsp edge!
