This card was made as an inspiration card for a challenge whose theme is "Frame It". It requires you use at least one metal die (I used nine!), and include flowers and butterflies.
I had received the Close to My Heart (CTMH) "Slimline Shaker Window" die set from Susan Reynolds as a thank you gift a few months back, so when I saw the challenge, her beautiful dies came immediately to mind.
Besides the lovely slimline frame dies, I also used the Stampin' Up! (SU) "Pierced Blooms" dies. I cut multiples of two different sizes of the daisies out of SU Shimmery White cardstock (if you look closely you can see the subtle sparkles). The centers were die cut from SU Daffodil Delight.
After assembling all eight flowers (one for the inside as an embellishment), I cut a 1-7/8"x 7" panel of white cardstock and off-stamped the birthday sentiment using SU Night of Navy ink to randomly stamp it on the white panel so it wasn't too dark. Then I ran the entire panel through my Big Shot inside the SU "Subtle" embossing folder to give some texture to the piece before gluing all the daisies on it. I tucked a few die cut leaves here and there that had been cut from SU Pear Pizzazz cardstock.
I then die cut the scalloped slimline piece from SU Daffodil Delight cardstock and glued the daisy piece to it. The card base is 8"x 9" heavy white scored at 4" to create the slimline base. I wanted there to me a nice green border to contrast with the blue frame I had already cut, so cut the same green cardstock I'd used for the leaves to be just slightly smaller than the 4"x9" card base, then ran it through my Big Shot using the gorgeous SU "Stitched Greenery" die that cuts stitched leaves all over the die's surface.
Onto this green field I first glued the blue die cut frame, then the yellow backed daisy panel. This assemblage was then glued to the white card base.
The last step was to create the sentiment piece. I used the same birthday stamp with SU Night of Navy ink on a piece of white cardstock, then used the beautiful label die from the "Pierced Blooms" die set to cut it out. However, the die is much taller than I needed, so when I cut it, I placed the sentiment close to the top of the die, then ran the piece through the Big Shot using the same die placed close to the bottom of the sentiment,,, thereby creating a shorter piece. I created the blue mat for the sentiment using the same technique.
As I was admiring how the card looked I spotted a little orange butterfly from another project that I had stuck to my desk lamp. I grabbed it along with its glue dot and stuck it to the upper right corner of the card. I believe it's SU Groovy Guava cardstock and SU Calypso Coral ink using the retired SU "Papillon Potpourri" stamp set and matching butterfly punch.
I am rating the difficulty level for this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" because all the dies make it so easy to create.
