I saw a Laurel Beard video a while ago where she described her âmagic mugâ, a desk container where she throws all the bits and pieces leftover from card projects, that she periodically empties and makes cards from. I adopted the magic mug on my desk, and today I made cards from it.
This is a truly random Magic mug card! It started with the tag, which I had covered with some patterned paper for some other card idea but never used. The larger red heart was an attempt to make a second sticker out of the frame left from a gold heart sticker. I had cut out the leftover gold edge and stuck it to a bit of red cardstock and cut it out, but never used it for anything and it ended up in the mug. The flower was another bit of playing aroundâ¦I tried punching hearts from the petals,of a die cut flower but went no furtherâ¦into the mug. The smaller heart and star shapes were leftover die cuts. I colored the star shape with mustard distress ink and layered it onto the heart-flower die cut, then attached to the edge of the tag and cut off the overhanging bits. I glued on the two hearts and a stamped flower on a watercolor background leftover from a long ago card. I added the two gem stickers and a bit of yellow ribbon on the top,of the tag, and attached to a kraft card front with foam tape. I finished with the sentiment from the Tim Holtz sticker pack.
USEIT2022 - very random magic mug bits, Tim Holtz stickers have been in my stash for several years.
