I love paper weaving and donât do it nearly enough so I was definitely jumping in on this challenge. It was also a chance to try out a weaving stencil I got waaaay back, never used, and recently found again. Basically you use it to draw lines (in this case wavy) on paper and then cut with a craft knife.
I used white and lilac cardstock to make the paper weaving, then stamped my vintage Denami Designs hearts (which still gets used pretty regularly, l love their old simple curvy graphics and have several of their stamps from the 90s) in clear pigment ink. And heat embossed with gold, powderâanother old school technique that I havenât done in forever because my old ink or powders didnât seem to work anymore. But I got new stuff recently so heat embossing is back, baby!
Um, where was I. Oh yes, more old school. After heat embossing the image I colored with fuschia colored pencil and then covered with Judikins diamond glaze (my original bottle still going strong) and left to dry overnight. I finished by die cutting a rectangle out of a white card front and glueing the woven piece in place behind it. I stamped the sentiment in Adirondack eggplant ink.
