Toni's Sound of Music challenge is here: WT880 - The Sound of Music - 01/20/22 by ravengirl at Splitcoaststampers

I have at least one die (a sax), and a whole category of stamps set for music and birds which doesn't even include Penny Black stamps featuring guitar, flute and piano, and I would love to try the grand piano tutorial which was in the Inkling a couple of weeks back ( when I was very young we had two pianos, a full grand and an upright. The grand wasn't particularly a good piano, so my dad turned the top and legs into a large coffee table, which used to confuse people enormously when they walked into the room and saw a very low piano. The frame made a great shelf in the garden shed. I still have the upright!) - so I don't know why I went with the guitar card which I have already made in the past. Maybe because I feel as if I am forever tripping over guitars and guitar cases! DH uses to keep one in his mother's house, but that came back here when she died last year.

Anyway, I followed the tutorial in resources, using my own faux wood technique, which is simply re-inker mixed with PVA and spread with a foam brush. I discovered it accidentally once when I mixed the wrong things for the faux barnboard technique. I used beading cord for the strings, and Nuvo Drops at the ends of them. The rosette was embossed and detailed with a Posca pen. I sponged some old music with blue, spatteted with gold and edged with Stickles.

This is a very impressive card. A few years ago my friend made a similar one and it's just such a perfect card for a guitar player. I love the bg music score too.

Your title immediately brought a John Denver song in to my head. Love the card - it is so beautifully done

Just stunning, Sabrina, and favd. I have tried neither tutorial. When I went to Minnesota with the family back in December, I was forever tripping on guitar and banjo cases, Scott's step dad specializes in them. I think my bedroom had about 10 on the floor (in cases).

Sabrina, I know I have a similar card that you've made in the past in my Faves, somewhere back in the years! It is just so beautiful with the embossed rosette, realistic looking strings and beautiful wood tone. The blue sponged over the sheet music makes a great color combination with the wood.
I must add, that I now will be hearing Emmy Lou Harris singing John Denver's wonderful song in my head : ) Thanks for putting it there!

This is gorgeous. I love the embossed circle and fabulous woodgrain. I'll have to try your technique on that.
