Tomorrow is my Mom's 91st birthday so it was back into the Rubber Room to create the next January birthday card. Decided while I was at it I should make two since there was already stuff everywhere.
I often stamp a whole sheet of little images like this and watercolour them as time allows. (Yes, this is a very old SU set but I like it as much now as when I first got it.) I chose one of the summery images from the set to make these cards.
Everyone needs a little shot of summer by mid-January. To attest to that, here's a bit of trivia for you - my son (whose birthday is next week) recently informed me that "Blue Monday" is the name given to the third Monday in January and has been coined as the most depressing day of the year. Thankfully his birthday only lands on "Blue Monday" every five or so years. Whew! I told him I didn't pick his birthday, he did. He was due much earlier in the month and could have completely avoided ever having his birthday on "Blue Monday" if he hadn't waited so long to arrive. But I digress...
Back to these cards... Dry embossed the white layers. Cut four different sizes of circles that pulled colours from the image. Stamped and die-cut the sentiments. Layered 'em up and it's a done deal. And now I've got one for Mom and one for the box at the church. Good deal.

Super cute. Love the image and your beautiful coloring. Great idea to stamp an image many times and then color as needed. Love the embossed backgrounds. Wonderful cards. Happy 91st Birthday for your mom!

Izzi, these are so pretty and I love the little image. The ef on the right is fab! Cute story bout your boy! I never heard of blue Monday, but I can understand that. It won't be this year though as we've had lots of nice winter weather so far. Hugz, Bugz

What pretty cards...the embossing really shows off your images and banner greetings. Happy B-day to your mom...hope it's a wonderful day! I had no idea about the Blue Monday...I can see that since it's in the middle of winter and everyone is locked inside (at least here where it's cold and snowy).

I always like that set - lovely to see the bright summery feel today. What beautiful embossed backgrounds - and yay on having a spare card for your stash. Happy Birthday to your mother today (by the time I am commenting. It's my sister's birthday too. She was the sandwich filling between my dad on the 13th and my mother on the 15th).
