Layering...I'm with Polly, I don't layer much, especially if it's just for the sake of layering. I'll often use an ink pad to add a black edge so it looks like I layered black cardstock. But, in pursuit of using scraps, here is what I did.
I used a Sizzix Flip-It die set, which cuts the whole card base, two dies for layers on either side and then a bunch of small dies for embellishments. Dug into my dp bin and pulled out this coral, chocolate and metallic double sided dp. Chose a metallic that sort of matched the metallic in the dp and some ee cardstock for the letters. Unfortunately they don't include a die that will cut out a layer for the part that flips so I had to recut the base from the metallic and trim the extra off. If you open up the card completely, I attached two layered hearts on the flippy part, same paper. I ran out of time but I thought about adding some layers with some mixed media products, maybe I'll still do that. This will be a Valentine for one of the grands, I'll make another of different paper. Thanks, Polly!

Oh, go you for doing a fun-fold. And while often I think one can cut them just as easily with a knife, in the case of this type I really do think a die makes a difference. Love the shape of the flip and smaller accents.

I think whoever gets this will flip when they see it! That's a really cool die and the papers are great...glad you got to use them today even if it took a bit of finagling.
