I skipped any actual mirroring, although it's something I do find easier with more more practice and with the advent of media plates which make great transfer blocks. I went for a reflective memory. As I mentioned in my Two Faces (Janus, looking back and forward) MMTPT challenge write-up, we camped in my brother's garden for a few days in July. We were lucky and it was the week of Ireland's heatwave. We went to an arboretum, we went to a forest on a mountain and I paddled downriver to get a good photo of the bridge, and we went to a beach. First time for a year and half. I almost cried, I did tear up and get emotional. We walked from where we parked the car, about half way along, all the way to one end, where we sat and watched sand martins soaring above the dunes, and oystercatchers paddling at the edge of the sea. We walked all the way to the other end and watched a heron, and then when we were nearly back at the middle again, I went in swimming. Heatwave it might have been, but I knew I would need to get back to the car to get warm again afterwards.
Techniques are not my friend today - I have four marbled alcohol backgrounds which are often perfect for a beach but not today, and one wrinkle free distress. Finally I went for a stamped acrylic block background, after first thoroughly cleaning my block.
To fit in the mixed media, I added Stickles to the white patches in the sea, Aleene's glitter snow and some antique chunky glitter along the surf line, and I brayered some gold acrylic paint on a CD and used that to stamp the sand from Shore Thing. And my little oystercatcher's legs are a Brusho spray.
No sentiment yet...

I don't think I have heard of an oystercatcher, either. I do love your adorable card and how it gives you memories of a wonderful time.
