I used today's TLC for a few VSN projects. This is for Melody's-use newsprint. I used to be a real news junkie; I don't watch news any longer, if I can help it. I do stay abreast, it's easier for me to read than see and hear it.
Milwaukee used to have two newspapers, one morning, one evening. We only ever got the evening one when I was growing up. The two papers have now merged and, sadly, I don't get it. But I have a friend who gets the Wednesday and Sunday and she passes on the Green Sheet to me. The Green Sheet is the comics/local events/historical events section, printed with some green ink. I chose some events that happened in December, like Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat (what courage!) and Abraham Lincoln addressing congress in 1862, asking to abolish slavery. Another courageous act!
I had to take the picture in two parts, as the card is too wide to get it all in one. Please take a look at the other side. I also included a postage stamp of art by Ellsworth Kelly. My goal was to emphasize great strides taken by ordinary but extraordinary people. Rosa Parks could have died that day....she wasn't tired physically, she was tired of giving in. Took a woman to make that decision.
