Black and white is usually pretty hard for me, but I embraced it with this card. Anniversary cards are also hard for me, so why not combine the two? I decided on some black and white DP and flowers. I've been seeing this amaryllis all over Instagram lately and it had me itching to ink it up. I had a damask pattern pictured in my head, but this buffalo plaid stole the show. I think it's just right with these flowers. I die cut the "happy" three times, once with packing tape over the paper for the faux heat embossing technique that I like so much. I had really wanted to pop up the flowers, but didn't want to deal with trying to pop up the happy die cut, so I glued down the stem and still popped up the actual flowers and still got the look I wanted.

I think anything against a checked bg looks great....and the b/w check is so classy...perfect for your anniversary card. Beautiful card (even though it's not colored)..
Jen, it's a beautiful black and white card and so versatile because it can be used as a wedding anniversary or a business anniversary! Great to have on hand for either occasion.

Great buffalo plaid and wonderful flowers. You knocked black and white out of the park. I need to make a few anniversary cards and I need to get it it fast.

Oh, I think the buffalo check is better. Damask might have taken away from the hippeastrum, whereas the lines of the check are a nice contrast with the curves in the flower. I find anniversary cards hard too, I must say. Well, for DH I do, I don't so much for other people.

It looks like this wasn't any trouble for you to combine those two challenges that aren't usually for easy for you! Cool look on the sentiment with the packing tape.
