This is my second alternative card for Paper Pumpkin--March 2021 kit, Here's To You. You might remember that alternative cards are my goal and personal challenge when making up my Paper Pumpkin kits.
As on previous kit cards, I used fussy-cutting, layering, ink edge-distressing, and sponging to get more depth, color, shadowing, texture and definition from flat papers and die-cuts provided in the kit. For this card, I used the mountain-sunset scene again and coordinating cardstock colors in greens, blues, and blue-green to give my card a more masculine look. This card will be for my son-in-law's October birthday.
In doing my Challenge Catch-up cardmaking and planning this card, I found 14 challenge, some older and some very old, that my card would fit. The challenges are listed below:
1) AOCC21 - All Occasions Challenge/ October 2021 - 10/1/21. Monthly challenge encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards! This card is one of the many October birthday cards needed.
2) USEIT2021 - Use It Challenge/ October 2021 - 10/1/21. An ongoing/ annual challenge that requires you to use OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased, never used, and seemingly forgotten! OLD/ DUSTY item: still using up the old March 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit.
3) WT864 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Let's Border It - 9/30/21. Challenge: Add a border to your card...on the edge, in the middle to keep your image "closed," border only part, etc. The border could be stitching, painting, drawing, doodling, zentangling, etc. Mine is a "closed" image border.
5) ABC15L12 - Alphabet Challenge/ Layers - 7/21/21. This card is filled with multiple layers, plus the scene has many layered elements that are fussy-cut and color sponged.
6) CAS643 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Outdoor Fun - 6/14/21. Challenge: be inspired by lots going on in national parks...make it outdoorsy! My inspiration is from Mt. Rainier National Park. The mountain can be seen from the road as we drive to the nearest shopping. My card is inspired by the mountain's beauty!
7) F4A583 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Marvin Gaye Songs - 4/23/21 - Pick one of his songs for inspiration. I chose "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" as inspiration for what to do the kit's mountain scene.
S2S21AUG - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another)/ Time Off - 8/6/21. Challenge: what do you do with your time off? Go on a day-trip to Mt. Rainier National Park...almost in our backyard!
9) TLC795 - Technique Lover's Challenge/ Front Flap Card - 5/18/20. Challenge: try a Front Flap card (SCS Tutorial). The SCS version is a front flap that opens vertically from bottom to top. It is an extension attached to an open-face card base. The front flap fold I've done is tweaked a bit from the SCS version. It is a side flap and is an extension of the card base. I actually found out after my card was made that it is called a Side Flap Fold instead of a Front Flap Fold, but I cut my papers without going to the SCS tutorial first (my bad), so I continued with my side front flap version.
10) IC744 - Inspiration Challenge/ Quiltspirations - 3/7/20. This lovely quilt was an inspiration for this Paper Pumpkin Alternative card scene: Landscape Quilt!
11) MIX369 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Quotable Quotes - 2/21/20. Challenge: be inspired by a quotable quoted: "Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing." -- Andy Rooney. Mediums: stamping dye-based ink; Edge-distress pigment ink; inside verse = computer ink.
12) FS649 - Featured Stamper/ Terry Serman - 7/14/19. Terry's gallery was fun to browse. I chose this card: Destination! for its lovely layers to frame the beautiful scene of valleys to mountains. The hot air balloon invites you to look up, as my mountains and rising sun do in my scenic card. Kept the layering, some of the colors, and a mountain scene. Changes: Front flap (side) fun fold; added brighter colors, and layering within the scene itself.
13) MMTPT519 - Teapot Challenge/ Manly Teaparty - 7/3/18. I designed this card with the possibility that it could be used in the challenge as a masculine get well card, but since I'm very late to the party, I turned it into a belated birthday card for my son-in-law.
14) SC658 - Sketch Challenge - 8/16/17. Sketch Tweak: #3 Rectangle made more of a square w/ two layers under it. Changed #5 sentiment rectangle flag to different shape.

Awesome Carlene. You have made another fabulous PP alternative. It's another one I would like to copy. I just could not see how those block patterns could be used, but they make great backgrounds. TFS.

Fantastic - and you are doing an INCREDIBLE job "playing catch up," as you put it - I long ago gave up on that, thinking it was impossible... yet you are proving it IS (and beautifully, I might add!)!

Wow, this is beautiful. I love the scene and the bright, happy colors. You amaze me on how you fit your cards in so many challenges. Where do you find all of the challenges? I have always wondered so decided to ask. I need to start doing more.
