My friend's birthday was in early November while I was away at a long-awaited, crafting get-away with old friends/ crafting buddies.
For this first project, I decided to use a kit from which I had already made two alternative cards...the Paper Pumpkin--March 2021--Here's To You. This, of course, is Alternative Card #3. I used the clouds-meadow scene that I had not yet used. As I did previously, I fussy-cut scenery parts to double layer these areas in the scene to add more depth, texture, and color. For this Alternative #3 card, I focused on the clouds, lake shadows, green trees, and meadow area with and without flowers leading to the lake.
On these fussy-cut pieces, I sponged on more ink for color depth, plus I ink-distressed the edges with the Colorbox Chestnut Roan ink that I loved to use when I want an ink distressed effect. Notice that I sponged Pretty Peacock on several of the cloud formations and Old Olive onto the green trees before double layering them onto the scene. I Copic-colored the fussy-cut lake shadows as I did not have an appropriate ink color to use and double layered these as well.
Next, I embossed the card base front and the copper foil layer with the SU Subtle 3D embossing folder. I really like the copper foil with this particular kit as it enriches and brightens the entire look of the completed card. To finish, I added my trio of twines and adhered all layers including the card front together. I stamped the sentiment, added the copper die-cut layer pieces, popped up the sentiment layer, and finished with sequin embellishments.
Checking out possible challenges that would fit my card plans, I found 14 catch-up ones. Some were presented in 2021 and some as long ago as mid-2019. They are listed below:
1) AOCC21 - All Occasions Card Challenge/ November 2021. Monthly challenge encourages you to set goals ahead for each month to help you complete and mail your cards! This one was a much needed birthday card!
2) USEIT2021 - Use It Challenge/ November 2021. An ongoing/ annual challenge requiring use of OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased but never used and seemingly forgotten! My OLD/ DUSTY item was the unfinished March 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit. My OLD/NEW item: Stitched Nested Labels dies.
3) F4A586 - Free 4 All Challenge/ The Great Outdoors - 5/14/21. Challenge: pick a vacation destination...make a card based on your choice. I've picked Mt. Rainier National Forest, which this scenic card reminds me of Lake Tipsoo in the park. I'd take a week-long camping vacation here...so gorgeous scenic...soothing to the soul!
4) WT844 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Take the Scenic Route - 5/13/21. Challenge: Make a scene on your card.
5) CC842 - Color Challenge/ Eating Curry in a Seaside Garden - 5/4/21. Colors: Crushed Curry-same; Seaside Spray=same; Garden Green=Old Olive. Dessert: Another color = Pretty Peacock layer. One green exchange: Garden Green for Old Olive.
6) SC848 - Sketch Challenge - 4/7/21. Sketch tweak: Rotated sketch 90 degrees, making the three strips vertical not. This basic layout became the first two layers. I built upon the sketch layout, adding a scene overlay and moved my stamped/ layered sentiment from lower right to center.
7) MMTPT642 - Teapot Challenge/ Open Your Doors & Windows - 11/10/20. This teapotter is outdoorsy and loves the LAKE, beach, and skiing plus his favorite color is BLUE. I'm late to the party so my card will be a birthday card for a friend with a "Happy Day" sentiment.
S2S20SEP - Stamp 2 Save (aka Stamp 2 Support One Another)/ Water - 9/3/20. Challenge: use WATER on your card...e.g., watercoloring, water images, etc. There is a LAKE in my card's scene.
9 CAS595 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ What's Up - 7/20/20. Challenge: to include something in the air or sky on your card. My sky is filled with billowy clouds!
10) IC762 - Inspiration Challenge/ Eye on Design - 7/11/20. Chose this for its blues and yellow color tone inspiration: Time Lapse Art!
11) DINSP0420 - Fan Club Monthly Themes/ Get Moving! - 4/15/20. Central Theme fit: Turning my eyes to the sky, I see lovely billowy clouds. Card for INSPIRATION CHALLENGE: inspired by sky filled with clouds. The Inspiration pic shows a sunset sky, but I chose to make mine a day-time sky...one you might see at Mt. Rainier National Park at Lake Tipsoo, which is what my card scene depicts.
12) ABC12N26 - Alphabet Challenge/ Letter N - 3/18/20. My letter N = nature and national park. This Paper Pumpkin scene reminds me of the Lake Tipsoo area of Mt. Rainier National Park. Here is a picture: Autumn Look at Lake Tipsoo!
13) FS652 - Featured Stamper/ Out on Bail! aka Bailmac - 8/4/19. I found two cards that I was inspired by the colors for the sky and clouds and yellowish hills below: A Butterfly! The second card: All Smiles CC411!...again for the colors and the criss-cross twine feature.
14) MIX339 - Mix-ability Challenge/ Beach Colors - 7/26/19. Challenge: use beachy colors; does not have to be a beach theme. Colors you might see at the beach: BLUE for sky and water; GREEN for possible trees or shrubs near beach; YELLOW for sun, beach ball, or bathing suit; BLUE-GREEN: a beach ball, sun umbrella, or bathing suit! My card makes up these colors. Mediums: stamping ink, pigment ink for edge distressing.

14 challenges! Carlene, you just blow me over, with all the challenges you can meet in one card. This is a lovely card. I especially like the billowing clouds. I still have that PP, virtually untouched.

Great scene. Love those big roiling clouds and I adore that the "land" is both floral and plain. Beautiful card for your friend and for all those challenge goals.

I've never embossed foils, I'll bet it looks quite handsome! Pretty array of clouds and so nice that you colored some to add depth! This would make a great guy card even with the flowering field in the foreground~
