book illustrators. What wonderful challenges this week! Thank you, Polly for bringing us the art of Eric Carle. Beloved by countless wee ones as well as adults. The sense of wonder created in his art (collage) is so inspiring. I could not tell you how many times his books have been read and poured over for collage ideas. Within the site, Polly linked, there is a page of which books are available for purchase. So many ideas just purseuring the cover art!
I had to pull out my 'Artist to artist' which is wonder in itself. 23 Major Illustrators Talk to Children about Their Art. And then it was in my bins for collage pieces I've done and saved for future projects.
The IC this week is hosted by Amy (Kalla Walla). A fun Christmas Shop site. I am unable to resist shiny things and the mini jewel tide bottle brush trees made me so happy. That and Tim's wonky, wild funky 'trees'. I threw everything at the multiple die cuts. I love the heart trees scattered in the magical forest...they are repurposed from a friend's AI heart background and die cut smaller. The glitter stems and leaves make a nice contrast. I also used an embossing folder with branches. The base is a long ago 'throw everything on the page, brush, scrap, and dab while wet'. Repeat when dry.
Either way you take the sentiment art was created and reality a bit wonky for a moment...here's a spark...I hope you fan the flame.
Thank you, Polly for reminding me of the great joy of children's book authors and illustrators. Thank you, Amy, for bringing a freshness to my old worn out green trees...I need those jeweled and glittered ones this season...your comments are very much appreciated.

Heart trees on their glittery stands...how cool! I would love to go for a walk through your forest. Your bg is really intriguing ...are there bits of embossing in the lower left? I would never think to use such a piece but it's really wonderful...I'll think twice about tossing some of my heavily encrusted leftovers. This is amazing...thanks for playing along and saluting Eric Carle.

Your wonky trees and background are such fun to look at and you obviously had lots of fun creating them! I really like your sentiment, too!
