Another October birthday, and I'm running late! This crafting friend's birthday falls on my anniversary. My hope is to finished and take it with me to our early November crafting retreat!
I found a shaving cream technique YouTube by Darla Watson...Scrap Happens with Darla! She is my Mom's Stampin' Up demonstrator and mentor and I've had the pleasure of crafting with her and her group when visiting Mom, though that has not happened now in several years because of Covid! I love Darla's color combination and card design, so I thought I'd follow along with the video and make my own changes to make the final card more me.
These were my changes or additions: Watercolor paper not regular cardstock. Tweaked layout and element placements. Raised horizontal strip; lowered flower circle almost to right strip center. Added BG layers...Gold Foil + Lovely Lipstick. Added Gold Foil Starburst BG layer beneath Stitched Circle. Added gold metallic Gilded Gems flower centers. Added Gold Foil strip beneath top edge of horizontal decorative die strip. Used 4 strands of Linen Twine; center twine bow left negative area not next to flower circle. Love shaving cream background, and really like my changes layout, layering, and bling additions.
Checking out before construction of possible challenges, I found 16 challenges to use!!

9) IC716 - Inspiration Challenge/ {Corningware} - 8/24/19. I had trouble finding inspiration on this site. After many visits, I was finally inspired by the pattern being used as a horizontal die-cut edging across the layout: Corelle Graphic Stitch Bowls!
10) ABC11R18 - Alphabet Challenge/ Letter R = Re-Inkers/ Reasons/ Re-visit/ Results - 7/3/19. This is my Letter R card for many REASONS! I wanted to RE-VISIT the RE-INKER Shaving Cream technique. I've tried it once before, and I REALLY like the RESULTS. (I did not do the Double challenge retirement theme as I needed a birthday card).
11) MMTPT567 - Teapot Challenge/ Teapotter's Power - 6/4/19. I'm very late to the party, so my card will go to a friend and fellow crafter as a birthday card. I have incorporated a few of our teapotter's favorites...flowers and red tones. The challenge word is POWER, and I have used all of the crafting element letters: P=Papers; O=orange; W=watercolor paper; E=Edge die, embellishments (gems/ twine); R=re-inkers.
12) WT741 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Marbled Books - 5/23/19. The NYC library, a marbled structure, was dedicated on this date in history. Show some marbling on your card.
13) FS640 - Featured Stamper/ Happy Mother(load) Day! / Motherload - 5/12/19. I chose this project to CASE: EMS Seven! I was inspired by Cheryl's colors, the theme, and the horizontal heart border. Same: Colors + red; Birthday theme. Differences: card not a scrapbook page, die-cut heart border not digital; Adds: + shaving cream BG; + BG layers; + twine; + stamping; 3-D embellishments.
14) MIX315 - Mix-Ability Challenge/ Mixed Media Love - 2/8/19. Incorporate love/ hearts into your card. My card is a birthday card for my friend and fellow crafter. I've added a decorative horizontal heart die border across my card front with a flower image of coordinated colors. Mediums: dye-based re-inkers, shaving cream, pigment-ink-edge distressing).
15) CAS470 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ The Grand Canyon - 2/26/18. I have pulled out the color tones of reds, oranges, pinks, and greens from this colorful picture inspiration.
16) Wednesday Tutorials - Shaving Cream Technique (by Beate Johns) - 9/11/12. My card's background uses this technique.
