So, I had before this video came up as a thing for this challenge never imagined such a critter, ever. It took a while to sketch this, the masking fluid was a lot gloppy and so I had to laugh when I showed it to hubs and he said. Oh, its a butterfly with frog legs... ( he thought it was some hybrid fantasy thing) lol. There are a few more shots from before this point on the blog here. Thanks for this challenge Angie & tfl.

Oh, my word! Your moth is beautiful! I love the shadows and the wonderful curls you have in the tail! You created a gorgeous Luna Moth and I love that you have shared it with us from your sketchbook.

So first, I have to say your hubs made me belly laugh, Stacy, as I think he may be on to something. I looked back at my painting and could indeed see a butterfly with frog legs! These Paintings are never as easy as the video artist makes them look - I applaud you for giving the masking fluid a try . . I looked at it in the store a few months ago and the price was prohibitive (in my area) so decided I'd learn to do a work around. Super job getting the shadowed overlap of the wings - it's the look I wanted but just couldn't seem to achieve. WTG on this water color journey.
