Our challenge is to make a card outside our comfort zone for John, who could use some cheering up while recovering from a recent injury. His hobbies include racing cars, camping, mountains, and puttering around in his garage working on his motorcycle and classic car.
As for the outside my comfort zone part - anyone remember Stampin Up Hodgepodge Hardware? I still have four almost full tins of the stuff in every color metal they sold (former demo here). Never felt comfortable using it on a cardâe¦still don't.
But while looking through my stash for things or ideas outside my comfort zone, and spotting these tins of hardly used hardware, I decided to use some on my card. And since this silver one kind of looks like a license plate, I thought, why not? That's when I decided to go with a classic car theme and personalize the license plate (hodgepodge hardware) with his name. Hope he likes it.

Your personalized 'license plate" idea is great .... the perfect embellishment for that classic car! John will surely think it's cool!

LOL, I don't have the SU but I do still have quite a lot of the WRMK stuff. And I think it looks great, but I don't often use it. Super card for John, the diamond plate embossing and silver name tag really complement the classic car.

Oh, very cool and creative with the hodgepodge license plate. Yes, I have a few bought at a garage sale and used one last year on a Christmas card. But I digress, lol, your silver foil embossed piece looks awesome and of course a blue super looking car for John is perfect!

Wonderful card for a car guy....I love the car image and the way you colored it. That silver diamond plate is the perfect bg and personalizing it with the metal frame is a great addition. Fabulous card.

This is a fabulous masculine card, Linda, love the classy looking car with the embossed bg and silver hardware and the personalised name! I still have the SU Hodgepodge somewhere, I don’t think I used too much of it, either! I should pull it out again~
