I made my own pattern based on Dina's *throwback* tutorial: Cake Box by Rebecca Ednie, for Falliday Fest.
The original pattern for the cake box was too long and skinny for my penguin. It took me awhile and lots of trial and error before I got a size that I liked. I drew a pattern for the areas that I wanted black and cut them out of black cardstock. I cut the beak out of orange cardstock, sponged the edges with red ink and added a white highlight. I snipped off the back of the plastic eyes that I had in my button stash.
I assembled the cake box and glued on all the pieces. I left the back flap open, just tucked it in, so that treats could be added to the penguin.
It looks so simple, and yet, it took me all morning to make my cute little guy! I'm glad I stuck with it. Thanks for a fun challenge Dina!
