Rebekah challenged us to do a gnome project for Falliday Fest. I must admit, I'm not much of a gnome person. In fact, I have only one stamp in my entire collection that is a gnome, that I got in a surprise package from another card maker. And that one didn't inspire me for this challenge. So I had to go searching. I googled "free gnome coloring page," & found one at GetColoringPages.com. The first one I chose ended up looking a bit creepy, so I went back & found a different gnome that looks kind of like Santa. Sold (for zero dollars, of course)! Thankfully, the file was already a JPEG, so I could open it directly in Photoshop, without having to print it first & scan it back into my computer.
After I chose my sketch, I created a blank "canvas" in Photoshop the size of the focal panel. I dragged the gnome image onto that, & sized it to fit. I printed it onto a piece of vellum bristol cut to the size of my finished panel. I used my Prismacolor pencils to color him in, & went over the catchlights in his eyes with a white gel pen.
I cut a panel of patterned paper from my scrap stash to A2 size, & adhered that to my white card base. I cut two strips from other patterned papers, & adhered them as per the sketch. Finally, I adhered my focal panel to the card. I contemplated matting it with a 1/16" mat, but decided it could stand on its own. I really love how this card came out!
